When faults or safety risks are identified, the electrician will document them in your report, indicate whether they’re urgent or non-urgent, and provide you with repair options and pricing. Our electrical safety check covers wiring, switchboards, power outlets, lighting circuits, safety switches (RCDs) and fixed installations throughout the premises, following AS/NZS 3019:2022 standards. You’ll receive a detailed report with photos, findings and any necessary repair recommendations.

Rental providers in Victoria are required to carry out a full electrical safety inspection every two years. If a check has not been done within the previous two years at the start of a new tenancy, it must be arranged as soon as practicable.

Rental providers have certain responsibilities for electrical safety. Electrical appliances need to be regularly checked and maintained. Rental providers need to make sure that the appliances are working safely.

Rental providers who enter into a new agreement after 29 March 2021, or have a fixed term agreement of more than five years which rolls over into a periodic tenancy after 29 March 2021, must ensure that:

• Electrical safety checks are conducted every two years, and
• if an electrical safety check has not been conducted within the last 2 years at the time the renter occupies the premises, the rental provider must arrange an electrical safety check as soon as possible.

If the rental provider entered into the rental agreement before 29 March 2021, the rental provider is still responsible for maintaining the safety of the premises. Energy Safe Victoria recommends that electrical safety checks be undertaken every two years.

A digital report prepared in accordance with Section 2of AS/NZS 3019 “Electrical installations – Periodic Verification” which outlines:

• The name of the licensed electrician who conducted the check;
• License number of the electrician;
• The date the check was conducted; and
• The results of the check including any repairs that were required and actions taken to address the repair.

If required, the landlord must repair any faults immediately. Depending on the severity and danger of the repair some may first need to be repaired before any tenants can reside on the premises.
